Remember that you need to choose titles that allow you the scope to comment wisely and in depth. I have read excellent Prose Reviewing Applications from quite simplistic books. But most often this is not done well.
Last year one student looked at how a book was adaptated to make into a film. By focussing strongly on the text, it was possible to comment on the language used for the age group, how the pictures were integral to the plot and how the theme was developed. The overall effect was that most of this was lost in the film. For the second text, this student worked from on an adult title, preparing an acceptance speech for an award night. That meant that it was easy to concentrate on the imagery, symbolism and other literary techniques. The two responses can have quite different focusses, as long as you look closely at the word limit. Make one 300 words and the other 700 words.

Hi Pauline
Can I read two children's books and comment on them?
