The batteries are used to store energy produced by the solar panels but not needed by the house straight away. This is the solution to the problem of not having 24 hour sunlight with the guarantee of a clear day. The batteries are charged and used when there isn’t an income of energy from the solar panels. This is how the house can still use electricity when the sun isn’t out.
