Geothermal Power Plant is very similar to a steam power plant. Steam comes out of the earth that was rainwater that had soaked deep down into the ground until it gets to a region that is really hot (in Hawaii it’s about 6,000 feet). A well is drilled and the steam comes up, the steam then goes through a heat exchanger and spins a turbine. The turbine spins turning the copper wire (armature) inside the generator and generating an electric current. After the steam has gone through the heat exchanger it has cooled off and is re-injected into the ground. Back
