The Internal Combustion engine is similar to a gun. You mix things together to create an explosion. This explosion makes everything go away from the explosion. In a gun you explode the gun powder and the bullet flies away from the gun through the barrel. In an internal combustion engine, petrol is used to create the explosion which pushes air away from the explosion which moves the piston. This piston then helps to spin the wheels of a car. The electric motor is simply a magnet that spins a turbine. It’s just like when you have two magnets with the same charge (negative or positive) they will repel each other. The same concept applies here but it is used to spin a turbine. Comments:From dmedwell - 6/18/05 2:23 PM Last Modified 4/15/05 12:14 PM |
Electric motor operation not properly explained using correct physics!
Magnets have N or S poles, they do not have a positive or negative charge!
