  • The maker of the first ever hybrid car, Ferdinand Porsche, was the founder of the prestigious and well-renowned Porsche car company who specialise in luxurious sports cars and formula one vehicles.
  • The new Toyota Prius can manage 35.5 kilometres per litre of fuel which equates to about 100 km on 2.8 litres of fuel!
  • Hybrid cars can be more than 15% more fuel efficient than standard cars.
  • Smog can be reduced by up to 90% through the use of hybrid cars.
  • Sales of hybrid cars underwent an enormous boom in 2004 in which 85,699 cars were sold in the United States alone, in comparison with less than 30,000 hybrid cars sold worldwide in 2003.
  • Regenerative braking is an energy conserving form of braking used by some hybrid cars that salvages some of the kinetic energy normally lost during braking and uses it to recharge the cars batteries. Smart thinking!
