The History of Hybrid Cars

Hybrid cars have been around since 1928 when Ferdinand Porsche developed the first ever such car. For the following 70 years, hybrid cars have been primarily an area for enthusiasts and it was only until the late 20^th century when car manufacturers began displaying an interest with the release of the Toyota Prius in late-1997.

Since the Prius, car manufacturers have begun showing increasing interest in the hybrid car technology and there are now over five different models from companies such as Toyota, Ford and Honda. There are many more hybrid cars scheduled for release in the near future.
