The Way of the Future The Future of hydroelectric power plants looks to be one of the industry flourishing with the depletion of fossil fuels and with the help of the massive amounts of money being invested into the area of renewable energy to which hydroelectricity has belonged to for over 2000 years. As a pioneer in the area of renewable energy we can only expect countries that have the opportunity to produce such power plants to take it. In the past we have seen that it works and not only that but it is also highly efficient but with all alterations to an eco system which an river is we must expect there to be repercussions. In order for hydroelectricity to become a part of the whole “no footprints” principle these repercussions must be closely monitored and regulated. These may include river flow, nutrient filtration fish numbers and the oxygen levels it the reservoir all of which can have affects on the drinking water of an particular town, the fish numbers in an river or the sedimentation of heavy metals and other thins in the reservoir. Although the technology has been highly criticized by many one can only expect it to flourish as it may create minor but controllable problems which when added up with the pros serve in it favour.
