Bear Hunt

Written and Illustrated by Anthony Browne The book ‘bear hunt’ is simple and has minimal text but has large pictures. The story is based around a bear walking through the forest one day with a pencil while two hunters are trying to hunt him. When they try to catch him in some way he draws something that can help him prevent being caught. This book has a lot of visual objects in the background; they do not attract attention because bear focuses your vision with his white colour. The background images seem to look like eyes looking at bear, and other parts of the body ie lips, feet, fingers and even light globes.   Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s DairyWritten and Illustrated by Lynley Dodd

This book doesn’t use the pictures to explain the story but uses words. This book is mainly a poem. The text is repetitive and rhyming sentences. The pictures take a whole page but do not have anything special located in them to signify an attraction to the story. The things that were represented were that the dogs leaving there yards and joining hairy maclary in his adventure. The next page generally would show hairy maclary doing something that shows him exploring.

Within this book I have noticed grasses located around that seem to look like hair due to their thin and curley shape. The use of pencils was a good choice for this because they managed to show the hairy of the dogs well.  Clive eats alligatorsWritten and Illustrated by Alison Lesater This book bases around individually and the ability to be different, one theme for this book is that Clive likes alligators. The images seem to show each person doing something different and then they show a single one doing something by themselves over the next double page. This book doesn’t have that much meaning except for that   Where the forest meets the seaWritten and Illustrated by Jeannie Baker This book makes a point of the rainforest and how it is dissolving away. This focuses on the daintree rainforest in queensland’s north. It is illustrated with cut out material that has been photographed. The Bunyip of Berkeley’s CreekWritten by Jenny Wagner and Illustrations by Ron Brooks This is about self-image and placement, it is about a bunyip that doesn’t know what a bunyip is and he trys to ask other animals what it is but they seem to explain that it is ugly and feared. The pictures are drawn in boxes that take up the whole of the page.  The Tin-Pot Foreign General and the Old Iron Woman Written and Illustrated by Raymond Briggs This book is odd because it is a picture book with few words but also addresses the political standpoints at the time between Argentina and England. It covers in detail the brutalities that were committed in the Falkland Islands. This book uses minor things to convey the point. For example when the book talks about death, rough sketches are used in a charcoal finish, this adds to the dramatic effect. As for when some of the other pictures could be showed that each nation was just showing there might. The Great Escape Written and Illustrated by Philippe Dupasquier  This book is simply a comic book, it does express the pictures well but it has no text-based storyline. It simply shows a guy running around and trying to evade detection. It does not have much of a story to it but it does show it completely within the images. 1 is for oneWritten by Nadia Wheatley and illustrated by Helen Leitch This book is a simple counting book that counts from one to ten; it has small illustrations in it. The most amazing part of this book is that it has small miniature versions of the same book within it. These each have minor differences in the illustrations.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Produced by Rockstar Games

This game follows Tony Vercetti, an ex-convict from liberty city. He was busted down for doing some work for the families and paid the price. The don has sent him to Vice city to develop there presence throughout the city in the world of organized crime. His first contact is a small time lawyer that always seems to bite off more than he can chew. As the game progresses Tony becomes such a heavy player in Vice City he is marked by the families to be hit. This story is quite good seeing as you play through it and some of the tasks that have to be completed are quite fun and challenging.
